In a decisive move to combat the illicit drug trade, the Assam police carried out a targeted operation on Tuesday, raiding an illegal pharmacy in Boko, Kamrup district, Assam. The purpose of the raid was to clamp down on the rampant sale of drugs and narcotics within the region.
During the raid, law enforcement authorities successfully confiscated a significant haul of illicit substances, including 24 bottles of prohibited cough syrup and three containers filled with heroin. Additionally, various other items related to the illegal trade were seized from the premises. The swift action resulted in the arrest of the pharmacy's owner, Maidul Islam, who was apprehended at the scene.
This operation follows a major crackdown on illegal liquor activities conducted on April 7. Acting on a tip-off, the police targeted the residence of an individual named Dhiren Boro in Assam Modertoli, Doboka. The raid uncovered a substantial quantity of counterfeit liquor stored within the premises.
However, Boro and his family members managed to escape from the scene upon learning of the police's arrival. Consequently, law enforcement authorities have launched a comprehensive manhunt to apprehend the accused and his associates.
These concerted efforts by the Assam police reflect their determination to combat the unlawful trade of drugs, narcotics, and counterfeit substances. Such operations send a strong message to offenders, bolstering the ongoing fight against illegal activities and safeguarding public safety.
