Assam Civil Servants to IAS

In a significant development, the Government of India has announced the promotion of 11 state civil servants in Assam to the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS). This update was shared through an official notification, highlighting the vacancies determined by the government.


The order, dated June 13, confirmed the elevation of 11 Assam Civil Service (ACS) officers to the rank of IAS against the available vacancies. The list of individuals who have been promoted includes:


1. Monita Borgohain

2. Gitanjali Bhattacharjee

3. Md Shah Nawaz Choudhury

4. Fazlul Haque Choudhury

5. Kavyashree Mahanta

6. Smitakshi Baruah

7. Malavika Choudhury

8. Indreswar Kalita

9. Kausar Jamil Hilaly

10. Deba Kumar Kalita

11. Arundhati Chakraborty


The official notification from the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions, Government of India, stated, "In accordance with Rule 8(1) of the Indian Administrative Service (Recruitment) Rules, 1954, combined with Regulation 9(1) of the Indian Administrative Service (Appointment by Promotion) Regulations, 1955, and Rule 3 of the Indian Administrative Service (Probation) Rules, 1954, the President is pleased to appoint the following members of the State Civil Service of Assam to the Indian Administrative Service. These appointments are made against the vacancies determined by the Government of India under Regulation 5(1) of the said Regulations, in consultation with the State Government for the Select List of 2021. The appointees shall serve on probation until further orders and be allocated to the Joint Assam-Meghalaya Cadre as per Rule 5(1) of the Indian Administrative Service (Cadre) Rules, 1954."
