Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a moment on Saturday to honor the memory of the former Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, on the 59th anniversary of his passing.
In a heartfelt Twitter post, Prime Minister Modi expressed his respects, stating, "On his death anniversary, I pay tributes to our former PM Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru."
Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru played a significant role in India's struggle for independence and held the esteemed position of being the nation's first Prime Minister following its liberation in 1947.
Nehru's unwavering determination to liberate India from British colonial rule propelled him to the forefront of the Indian National Congress (INC) and led him to actively combat the Britishers. Tragically, he breathed his last in May 1964.
Serving as Prime Minister from 1947 until his demise at the age of 74, Nehru's legacy extended beyond politics. He had a remarkable affection for children, earning the endearing title of "Chacha Nehru" (Uncle Nehru) among them.
It is worth noting that in India, Nehru's birth anniversary on November 14 is celebrated annually as Children's Day, highlighting his profound influence on the younger generation.
