Tezpur: In a remarkable achievement, Prasant Tamuli, a talented individual from Tezpur, secured two gold medals at the prestigious 3rd National Arm Wrestling Championship, organized by the Board of Control for Arm Wrestling in India (BCAI) in Bengaluru. His exceptional performance in both the right and left arms has earned him the opportunity to represent India at the upcoming World Arm Wrestling Championship sanctioned by the International Federation of Arm Wrestling (IFA) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Prasant Tamuli, a specially-abled arm wrestler, will now proudly carry the Indian flag at the World Arm Wrestling Championship scheduled to take place from September 26 to October 2, 2023, in Malaysia.
The journey of this talented athlete began with his victory at the All Assam State Arm Wrestling Championship on July 23, 2022, where he clinched his first gold medal, inspired by his coach Deepak Das.
In an interview with Pratidin Time, Prasant expressed his determination, saying, "Since winning my first gold medal in arm wrestling, I have never looked back. I continued to participate in various arm wrestling events, including the one organized by the Board of Control for Arm Wrestling in India (BCAI) in Tezpur. I emerged victorious and secured the gold medal in that event on January 2, 2023. Subsequently, I participated in the state-level arm wrestling championship in Morigaon from February 10 to 12, 2023, competing in both the right and left arms, and proudly clinched two gold medals. This led to my selection for the national-level arm wrestling championship, where I achieved further success by winning two more gold medals and ultimately securing my spot in the international arm wrestling championship in Malaysia."
